Membership Terms

Plain-language terms for the Library of Alexandria membership — what it includes, how billing works, and our refund and cancellation policy. You actively consent to these at signup and checkout.

What the membership is

The Library of Alexandria is a paid membership — $19.95/month for one household, or $199/year. Membership is the key to everything: read the full digital library, listen to 100+ hours of audiobooks, and order printed editions at our at-cost print price. You must be an active member to read, listen, or order; non-members may browse the catalogue only. Like a warehouse club, the membership fee is the value and print is sold at cost.

Billing

• $19.95/month (or $199/year), recurring, charged to your payment method on file until you cancel.
• If a free trial is offered it requires a valid card; we auto-convert to the paid plan at the end of the trial unless you cancel first, and we email you before it converts.
• Statement descriptor: LIBRARY OF ALEXANDRIA, so you always recognise the charge.

Cancellation

Cancel anytime in your account in one click — cancellation stops all future billing. You keep access through the end of the period you have already paid for. Your current paid period is not prorated or refunded, and annual payments are not refundable.

Refund policy — paid memberships are non-refundable

• Paid membership charges are non-refundable. This includes the initial payment for a monthly or annual plan and every renewal.
• If a free trial is offered, cancel during the trial through your account to prevent conversion to a paid plan. Once the trial converts and a payment is processed, it is a paid membership charge and is non-refundable.
• Digital access begins immediately on joining. Cancellation does not refund the current paid period; you keep access through the period already paid for.

This policy does not limit any non-waivable rights that apply under applicable law.

Printed books ordered through membership

Printed books are made to order and final sale — non-refundable and non-returnable. Damaged, defective, or wrong items should be reported within 14 days with a photo so we can arrange a free replacement.

Chargebacks

Everything is sold at cost (print) or as immediate-access digital, so a chargeback is a direct loss on goods already made and delivered or content already consumed. Please contact support@libraryofalexandria.com first — we resolve issues fast, including free replacement of any damaged, defective, or wrong print order. Filing a chargeback without first contacting us, on an order you authorised and received, is a breach of these terms; we may suspend the membership and account and will submit this disclosure together with your timestamped consent, access/download logs, and delivery confirmation to your bank and the card network.

Your consent

At signup and checkout you confirm, with a stored timestamp: "I understand the price and renewal frequency shown at checkout, that I can cancel future billing in my account, and that paid membership charges are non-refundable. If a free trial is offered, I must cancel during the trial to prevent conversion."
