Translation guides: which translation to read

Most of the classics were written in another language, so the book you read is a translator's work. Each guide here compares the kinds of translation of one classic, says what is hard to translate in it, and tells you when a close translation is worth setting beside the whole story. There are 20 guides, starting with the works people ask about most.
