About this book

An army marches for a bull, and one young warrior stands between it and Ulster.

At Cruachan, Queen Medb and King Ailill compare their wealth in bed. Their quarrel sets a cattle raid in motion: Medb wants the Brown Bull of Cooley and gathers an army to take it. With Ulster's men helpless under a curse, Cú Chulainn must defend the border alone.

The Ancient Irish Epic Tale Táin Bó Cúalnge is an anonymous saga in prose and verse, rooted in oral storytelling. In its heroic world, honour and cattle carry enormous weight. Fergus mac Róich marches with Medb against his old home, while boasting, sharp humour and bloody combat give the conflict its fierce character.
