About this book
What if the treasures inside a London house hold the power to wake the dead?
A message wakes Malcolm Ross in the night. Margaret Trelawny, the woman he is falling for, needs his help: something is badly wrong with her father. In a house crowded with Egyptian treasures, the young barrister searches for a rational answer while his concern for Margaret draws him deeper into danger.
Abel Trelawny studies ancient Egypt, and among his relics lies the mummy of Queen Tera, a ruler and sorceress. His plans reach beyond the study of the past. In The Jewel of Seven Stars, Bram Stoker brings a crime puzzle and a love story into conflict with the desire to master death.

A midnight summons draws Ross into the house
The story opens with a dream. Ross sees himself in a boat beneath willow branches, listening to a young woman describe how lonely her new life is. The dream breaks into a ceaseless knocking at his door. A groom stands outside with a letter and a carriage waiting.
The note is from Margaret Trelawny. She fears for her injured father, Abel Trelawny. Ross rides to the house in Kensington Palace Gardens, with hope and fear fighting inside him, because she has chosen him above everyone else.
