About this book
Open water, loyal friends, and the hope of hidden treasure: what more could a summer adventure promise?
In Madge Morton's Victory, Amy D. V. Chalmers follows a young woman who leads her friends through outdoor adventures. This time, summer unfolds on the water, where boats and shores offer a sense of freedom. Madge and her close circle share the hope of finding something hidden.
The search gives the friends a common purpose and puts courage at the heart of their adventure. Friendship, honesty, and pluck shape this world, where acting well matters more than boasting. Part of a series about Madge and her companions, the story offers familiar company alongside the pull of a mystery.

Graduation day brings a mystery and a pearl
Madge Morton's story opens on the morning of commencement at Miss Tolliver's school. She must give the valedictory, and she hates it, because her best friend Phyllis Alden earned exactly the same average. Phil settles their near quarrel with one question: would Madge have been glad if the honor had gone to her?
Then a boy delivers a small box covered in tiny shells. Inside, on a bed of cotton, lies a single unset pearl, and there is no card. Madge hides it under her pillow and goes to the stage. Stage fright takes her voice away, but she lifts her head, smiles, and speaks clearly about friendship.
