About this book

Under Monte Carlo’s glittering lights, fortunes change hands—and a stranger’s name may hide more than it reveals.

In Mademoiselle of Monte Carlo, William Le Queux takes you to the French Riviera, where luxury and danger share the same bright setting. Strangers meet around the casino tables. Money is at risk, but gambling is only part of the mystery: secrets, false names, and people who are not what they claim keep the plot moving.

Chance and greed run through a story built on disguise and the willingness to stake everything on one turn. Le Queux uses direct sentences, short chapters, and scenes that close at moments of tension. The sunlit resort offers a vivid contrast to its hidden dangers, inviting you to look beyond the glitter and question appearances.

What you’ll discover

  • Glitter with a dangerous edge Enter a grand Riviera resort where luxury provides the setting for secrets and risk.
  • Names that conceal Follow a mystery whose false identities make appearances something to question, not trust.
  • More than a game See gambling become an expression of chance, greed, and the urge to risk everything.
  • Tension at the turn Short chapters and tense scene endings give you reasons to keep reading.
  • An old-fashioned mystery Enjoy a direct, plot-led tale that puts secrets and disguise at its heart.

Who will love it

You will enjoy this book if you like glamorous settings, secret identities and fast chases, and if a gentleman thief with a kind heart makes you smile.
