About this book

What happens when love depends on a truth that a family keeps hidden?

In Little Golden's Daughter, Mrs. Alex. McVeigh Miller brings together a hidden identity, forbidden love, and the secrets that hold a family together. Love meets obstacles, while a concealed past gives the romance its suspense. The question of who someone really is becomes inseparable from the bonds of love and family.

Miller's tale belongs to the popular domestic fiction of the late nineteenth century. An American novelist who writes for family readers, she brings the concerns of that tradition into focus: identity, courtship, and the family circle. Here, private secrets matter because the family stands at the center of life, shaping the lives within it.
