In Chapter 52, Dai Zong and Li Kui find Gongsun Sheng and ask him to help Song Jiang against Gao Lian, but his master initially refuses permission. Li Kui attacks the master, suffers magical punishment and imprisonment, and returns chastened before Luo Zhenren agrees to release Gongsun Sheng for the mission.

- Dai Zong pleads for Li Kui’s return, and Luo Zhenren retrieves him and grants Gongsun Sheng permission to leave.
