Chapter 10 of 71 · 19 min to read the chapter

In Chapter 10, Lin Chong escapes pursuit with Chai Jin’s help and reaches Liangshan through Zhu Gui’s inn, but Wang Lun fears his fighting ability and resists accepting him. Required to bring back a stranger’s head, Lin Chong searches the roads for three days and finally faces an armed man whose baggage he takes.

What happens

  1. Chai Jin rescues Lin Chong from his estate hands, shelters him, and disguises his escape through a guarded pass as a hunting trip.
  2. At a snowy waterside inn, Zhu Gui recognizes Lin Chong and arranges his passage to Liangshan with a signal arrow.
  3. Wang Lun reads Chai Jin’s recommendation but privately fears Lin Chong’s superior ability and tries to send him away with gifts.
  4. After the other chiefs object, Wang Lun demands a severed head as proof that Lin Chong sincerely seeks to join.
  5. Two days bring no suitable victim; on the third, Lin Chong attacks a lone carrier, who escapes without his load.
  6. An armed man appears, demands his baggage, and charges at Lin Chong, who steps forward to fight.
