A castle locked against an unseen killer

Ravenspur Castle stands on granite above the North Sea, with a moat, a drawbridge and a portcullis that still work. The family has lived there for five hundred years. Yet for five years a curse has hunted the house, first as accidents and then as plain murder. Scotland Yard has found not one clue.

The family turns the castle into a fortress. The survivors gather inside, the servants sleep outside, and every dish is tasted before it reaches the table. Even so, three more deaths follow. No stranger has crossed the walls, so each Ravenspur starts to wonder about the others. Only seven remain.

On the castle roof, Rupert tells Marion that he wakes at night with pains in his heart and fears the killer is coming for him. He asks her to guard Vera and Geoffrey, who love each other. Marion promises at once. Walls keep strangers out, but they cannot keep fear out.

That’s 1 of 8 key points.
