Part 6, Chapter XXI of 170 · 2 min to read the chapter

In Chapter XXI, Charinus and Lenthius explain the limits Michael places on their testimony, then deliver separate written accounts that match exactly before they disappear. The Jewish assembly responds with praise and fear, while Joseph and Nicodemus report the events to Pilate, who enters the accounts into public records.

What happens

  1. Charinus and Lenthius explain that Michael orders prayer and silence until the Lord permits them to reveal divine mysteries.
  2. They describe instructions to travel beyond the Jordan, their three permitted days among the living, and their baptism.
  3. They urge repentance and praise, then hand their separate written accounts to five named recipients.
  4. Both witnesses become brilliant white forms and disappear, leaving accounts that match letter for letter.
  5. The Jewish assembly praises Jesus and departs in fear, beating their breasts.
  6. Joseph and Nicodemus report the events to the governor, and Pilate places written accounts in his public records.
