Shakespeare's Sonnet 116

Shakespeare’in sözleriyle sade, güncel bir anlatım, dize dize yan yana. Ücretsiz oku.

Let me not to the marriage of true mindsAdmit impediments. Love is not loveWhich alters when it alteration finds,Or bends with the remover to remove:O, no! it is an ever-fixed mark,That looks on tempests and is never shaken; It is the star to every wandering bark,Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeksWithin his bending sickle’s compass come;Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,But bears it out even to the edge of doom.If this be error and upon me prov’d,I never writ, nor no man ever lov’d.

Let me acknowledge no obstacles to the union of faithful minds. Love is not love if it changes when it finds a change, or withdraws when the other person pulls away. No, it is a permanently fixed landmark that watches storms and is never shaken. It is the star that guides every wandering ship, whose value cannot be measured, though its height can be calculated. Love is not Time’s plaything, though rosy lips and cheeks fall within the sweep of his curved sickle. Love does not change with his brief hours and weeks but endures to the very edge of Judgment Day. If this is wrong and can be proved against me, then I never wrote anything, and no one ever loved.

Bu sone hakkında sorular

Is the modern version the whole text?

Yes. Every line of the sonnet is here in plain modern English, in the same order, beside Shakespeare's own words.
