Басни Эзопа для детей in short

The Aesop for Children is a gathering of short animal tales, each ending with a brief statement of its lesson. Together they form a map of ordinary human trouble. Flatterers use sweet words, the proud see themselves too large, the envious copy what does not fit them, and the greedy lose what they had.

What Басни Эзопа для детей is about

Would you give up your dinner because someone said your voice was lovely? A Crow does in one of these tales, losing her cheese when a Fox flatters her into opening her beak. Aesop's fables are built like that. A few lines, an animal who wants something, a mistake, and a lesson small enough to carry in your pocket.

The Aesop for Children gathers well over one hundred of these tales. Aesop is the name tradition gives to a Greek storyteller of long ago. Each tale ends with a short moral that states its point. The animals are ordinary ones, and they talk and scheme like neighbors, so their faults are easy to see in ourselves. First come the flatterers, because their trick is the oldest one in the book.

Для кого. Perfect for parents and teachers who read aloud, and for anyone who loves a quick story with a clear point and a sly fox or a proud lion.

Flattery is the bait that traps the careless

Many fables begin with a smooth voice and end with a trap. In The Fox and the Crow, a Crow sits on a branch with a piece of cheese, and a hungry Fox stands below. He praises her feathers, her shape and her wings, then says a bird so perfect must have a lovely voice.

The Crow is suspicious at first. She keeps her beak shut. But she wants very much to be called Queen of Birds, and wanting it wears down her caution. She opens her beak to caw, the cheese falls, and the Fox walks off, remarking that her voice is loud but her wits are missing.

The pattern returns again and again. In The Monkey and the Cat, the Monkey praises the Cat's skill at pulling chestnuts from the fire, and she burns her paw each time while he eats every chestnut.

Some animals see the trick in time. A Goat on a high cliff tells a Wolf that he is thinking of his own appetite, not hers. When someone is very kind and has something to gain, ask what the kindness is for.

Praise that comes with a request attached deserves a second look.

What is The Aesop for Children about?

It is a collection of more than one hundred short animal fables, each ending with a brief moral. The tales cover flattery, pride, greed, hard work, kindness, unity and the unfairness of the powerful, using foxes, wolves, lions, mice and many more.

What is the moral of The Fox and the Crow?

The Fox flatters the Crow until she opens her beak to sing and drops her cheese. The moral is that flatterers live at the expense of those who listen to them, so be careful of praise that comes with a hidden aim.

Who was Aesop and did he write these fables?

Aesop is the name tradition gives to a Greek storyteller of long ago, said to have been a slave. The fables were told aloud and passed down, then gathered by later writers, so the collection grew over time under his name.

What sayings come from Aesop's fables?

Many everyday phrases trace back to these tales, such as sour grapes, crying wolf, the dog in the manger, the lion's share, and do not count your chickens before they hatch. Each comes from a short scene in the book.
