Робин Гуд in short
Robin Hood follows one young man from a quiet house at Locksley to a hidden camp in Barnesdale. He loses his father, his home, and his claim to land, and he gains a band of friends who share what they have. Every adventure shows that cleverness and loyalty can match power and money.
What Робин Гуд is about
Picture a boy of about fifteen, proud of his new bow, stopped on a forest road by ten rough men who demand a toll. He offers to shoot for the freedom of the forest, and loses the first round before foresters break in.
In Robin Hood, Paul Creswick gathers the old ballads into one connected adventure and gives the outlaw a reason to leave the law: a lost inheritance, a burned home, and a Sheriff who wants him hanged. You meet Little John, Friar Tuck, Marian, and Allan-a-Dale.
Для кого. Readers who love outlaw adventures, archery contests, daring rescues, and warm friendships in a green forest will enjoy the Robin Hood legend told as one lively story.

A proud boy loses his first shooting match
The story opens in 1188 in the house of Hugh Fitzooth, King's Ranger at Locksley. Hugh is a proud Saxon who lost his claim to the lands of Broadweald, and the loss has soured him. His son Robin makes poor arrows but shoots well.
A letter comes from the Norman squire George Montfichet of Gamewell. He asks that Robin visit for a year and see the great Fair at Nottingham. Hugh sends the boy off with plain advice. Rely on your bow, he says, and always be just and honest.
In the thick part of Sherwood, about ten robbers spring up and demand a toll. Robin refuses and offers a contest for the freedom of the forest. The robber chief, Will o' th' Green, sends his arrow into the very center beside Robin's. Before a second round, four score of the King's foresters come crashing through the trees, and the robbers vanish.
This first meeting sets the pattern for the whole book, in which the law and the outlaws are never quite what they seem.
