Индийская хиромантия in short
Indian Palmistry builds its case in a clear order. It begins with the roots of the art, in India, in the Book of Job and in the work of Dr. J.
What Индийская хиромантия is about
Picture a stranger who takes your right hand, turns it toward the light and begins to read it. He studies the pads beneath your fingers, the curve around your thumb and the tiny circles drawn by the pores of your skin. Within minutes he speaks of your health, your money and your journeys.
Indian Palmistry by Mrs. J. B. Dale teaches how this is done. It gathers the teaching of cheiromancy, draws on Dr. J. Rothman and adds material from the East. It gives fifty-six numbered references, a checklist for any palm and Indian signs such as the fish, the lotus and the wheel.
Для кого. This book suits readers who love old systems of signs, who are curious about astrology and the lore of the East, and who enjoy studying a hand line by line.

Palmistry is rooted in ancient claims and astrology
The author opens with a claim about age. She describes cheiromancy as the art of foretelling a person's life from the shape and markings of the hand. She notes that a recent Act of Parliament calls it palmistry and forbids practising it for gain. Her aim is to give this old art firm ground again.
To show its age she turns to India. Sages who saw the infant Buddha read a wheel mark and foretold his rise. She gives about 550 BC as the likely date for Buddha, so the art must be older still among the Indians. She also cites the Book of Job, where a sign on each hand lets a man recognize his own work.
She blames the art's decline on the vast amount of nonsense published by recent writers. To repair this she draws on Dr. J. Rothman, whose Latin work George Wharton translated in 1652. She rejects writers who cut palmistry loose from astrology.
Wharton's view guides the book. Palmistry works only along with astrology. A hand shows which planet is strong in the birth chart, and the chart names the lines on the hand. He warns that the hand cannot be trusted beyond a year or two.
Palmistry here is an old art tied to the stars and aimed at the near future.

Вопросы о книге Индийская хиромантия
What is Indian Palmistry about?
It teaches the art of reading the hand. It covers the mounts under the fingers, the main lines, fifty-six numbered signs, Indian symbols such as the fish and the lotus, and a short checklist for judging any palm.
Who wrote Indian Palmistry and where do its ideas come from?
Mrs. J. B. Dale wrote it. She draws on the Latin work of Dr. J. Rothman, translated by George Wharton in 1652, and adds material from the East, with the terms palmists use explained.
Which hand should you read in palmistry?
The general rule in the East is to read a man's right palm and a woman's left. The right hand of a man shows events about to happen, and the left shows events past.
What do the mounts of Jupiter, Saturn and the Sun mean?
They are the raised pads under the forefinger, middle finger and ring finger. Jupiter stands for ambition and honor, Saturn for wisdom and prudence, and the Sun for art, genius and success.
How does the book link palmistry to astrology?
Following George Wharton, the author holds that palmistry works only along with astrology. A hand and a birth chart answer to each other, and the hand can be trusted for only a year or two.
