Creation begins with a good world and broken trust
Genesis opens with God speaking the world into order over six days. Light comes first, then sky, seas, land, plants, stars and living creatures. Again and again comes the verdict that it is good. People arrive last, made in the image of God, and on the seventh day God rests and makes the day holy.
A second account moves in close. The LORD God forms the man from dust and plants a garden in Eden. Then the woman is made, and the two stand together without shame. There is one rule. They are forbidden to eat from the tree that gives knowledge of evil and good.
