51 Chapter 12 · Part 1 · Bölümü okumak 6 dk. sürer
In Chapter 12, President Barbicane appeals for donations worldwide, and the Gun Club collects a sum of money despite British opposition and uneven support among nations. With funding secured, Barbicane signs a contract with the Coldspring foundry to supply materials and manage the work of casting the Columbiad in Florida.
Neler oluyor?
- Barbicane makes the American project an international cause and asks people everywhere to donate without expecting profit.
- Foreign observatories respond with encouragement, silence, or, in Greenwich’s case, a declaration that success is impossible.
- The October 8 manifesto prompts donations through American and foreign banks, with a sum of money collected domestically within three days.
- Contributions vary widely among nations, while England gives nothing; the final total reaches a sum of money.
- On October 20, Barbicane and T. Murchison sign a contract assigning the Columbiad’s construction arrangements to the Coldspring foundry.
