Who Eve is
Eve is quick and warm, sharing a life of love and work with Adam in the garden of Eden. They tend its plants, eat simple meals, and pray together, living without shame.
She tells Adam that she first wakes beside a pool and falls in love with her own reflection. A voice leads her to Adam, and her account shows both their closeness and their differences.
Eve and the others in the story
Adam is devoted to Eve, but he admits to Raphael that her beauty can overwhelm his reason. Raphael urges him to value her mind rather than her looks alone.
When Raphael visits, Eve prepares fruit for the meal that accompanies his warning. The angel tells the pair about Satan's rebellion and reminds them that they have free will.
How Eve changes
Eve's peace is troubled by a dream in which a voice urges her toward the forbidden fruit. She tells Adam what she dreams, and he comforts her with an explanation of how dreams work. The dream brings danger into their peaceful life before Raphael arrives to warn them.
