What Violet Hunter wants
Violet wants Holmes's advice about whether she should accept the position Rucastle offers her. She is uneasy about the proposal, despite the unusually high pay attached to the work. Her request brings Holmes a puzzle about an offer whose strange conditions call for closer attention.
