Flatland, Section 9 — краткое содержание

Что происходит

1. Colour Recognition displaces older skills, while Isosceles classes refuse to supply criminals for education.
2. Soldiers and Artisans demand the suppression of privileged arts, the removal of educational funding, and equal rights.
3. Revolutionary leaders present a Bill requiring Women and Priests alike to have red fronts and green backs.
4. The narrator identifies an Irregular Circle as the proposal’s author and explains how matching colours encourage mistaken identity.
5. Women support the Bill because confusion with Priests promises greater respect and access to secrets.
6. The narrator argues that compulsory colour also threatens the Circles’ home-based intellectual training and political dominance.
