In Chapter 352, Sir Tristram de Liones offers to fight Sir Palamides so that Palamides can complete his vow and accept baptism. With armor borrowed from the wounded Sir Galleron of Galway, Tristram strikes down Palamides’s horse, then dismounts as his opponent prepares to fight with a sword.
Ce se întâmplă
- Sir Palamides says he believes in Jesus Christ and Mary but must fight one more battle before accepting baptism.
- Sir Tristram offers himself as the opponent and asks the wounded Sir Galleron of Galway to lend his armor.
- Galleron agrees, warns Tristram about Palamides’s strength, and helps him put on the armor despite his own injuries.
- The knights charge; Palamides breaks his spear, while Tristram strikes down Palamides’s horse.
- Palamides draws his sword, and Tristram dismounts and secures his own horse to a tree.

La ce să fii atent
Palamides distinguishes his inward belief from his unbaptized status. His vow, rather than a stated rejection of Christianity, explains the delay.
