Juno briefly secures an advantage for the Greeks by distracting Jupiter, but he restores Trojan strength through Apollo, leaving Ajax desperately defending the fleet against fire.

Ce se întâmplă

  1. Agamemnon, Diomed, and Ulysses suffer wounds, while Achilles sends Patroclus to learn about the fighting and Nestor urges him to seek help.
  2. Hector dismisses Polydamas’s warning about an omen, smashes the gates with a rock, and drives the Greeks toward their ships.
  3. Neptune strengthens the Greek resistance, and Ulysses and Diomed reject Agamemnon’s proposal to escape by sea.
  4. Juno charms Jupiter into sleep, allowing Neptune to lead the Greeks; Ajax strikes Hector down with a stone.
  5. Jupiter wakes, orders Neptune away, and sends Apollo to restore Hector and support the Trojan attack.
  6. Apollo breaks the defenses, Jupiter disables Teucer’s bow, and Ajax kills twelve attackers attempting to burn the ships.
