  3. As autumn gives way to winter, he plans to approach the blind De Lacey alone and gain his support.
  4. De Lacey welcomes him, listens to his account of isolation, and offers help without knowing whom he addresses.
  5. The creature identifies the family as his hoped-for friends just as Felix, Safie, and Agatha return.
  6. Agatha faints, Safie flees, and Felix beats the creature, who restrains himself and escapes to his hovel.
