Wędrówka Pielgrzyma in short

The Pilgrim's Progress follows one man from a doomed city toward a golden gate. He is warned by a book, guided by Evangelist, and sent through a narrow door. He falls in a bog, trusts a worldly adviser, loses his burden at the cross, fights a dragon, and finds a friend.

What Wędrówka Pielgrzyma is about

What would you do if you learned that your town would burn, and nobody believed you? That is where The Pilgrim's Progress begins. A man in rags opens a book and cries out in fear. He carries a burden he cannot remove, and his own wife and children think he is mad.

John Bunyan, a preacher and tinker from England, began this dream story in prison in the seventeenth century. He shows the Christian life as a road with real towns, hills, giants and companions. Each place stands for something every believer meets, and every scene holds a lesson.

Dla kogo. This book is for readers who love journeys with memorable companions and vivid villains. It is also for anyone curious about faith, temptation and perseverance.

The story in 10 parts

  1. Key idea 1 · free to read

A burdened man hears a warning and runs

The narrator falls asleep and dreams of a man in rags, bent under a heavy load, with a book in his hands. He reads, weeps and trembles. Then he cries out the question that drives the whole story: what shall I do?

He tells his wife and children that the city will be destroyed by fire from heaven. They do not believe him. They decide he is ill and put him to bed, then mock him when nothing changes. So he walks alone in the fields, reading and praying.

There a man named Evangelist finds him and gives him a scroll that says to flee from the wrath to come. He points across a wide field to a shining light and a little gate. The man begins to run. His family calls after him, and he puts his fingers in his ears and shouts that he wants eternal life.

Real concern for your soul can look like madness to those around you. The journey starts when a person hears a warning and acts on it.
