Święta wojna in short
The Holy War is the story of one town and two princes. Shaddai builds Mansoul with walls that no enemy can break without the town's consent. Diabolus gets that consent by lies.
What Święta wojna is about
What if the strongest walls in the world fall only when the people inside agree to open them? That is where The Holy War begins. It is John Bunyan's story of a fair town called Mansoul, whose gates no enemy can force without the townspeople's consent.
Bunyan, an English preacher who died in 1688, wrote it after The Pilgrim's Progress. Every person in the town is a mind, a feeling or a habit with a name, and every gate is a sense. You follow the war from the seizure of the town to the plots that threaten it again.
Dla kogo. Readers who love allegory, siege stories and courtroom scenes, and anyone curious how Bunyan turns faith, temptation and forgiveness into a war.

A town built for delight with walls that need consent
Shaddai builds Mansoul to give himself pleasure. In the middle stands a great palace kept for the King alone. The walls are so tightly joined that no enemy can shake them, unless the townspeople agree. The five gates are Ear-gate, Eye-gate, Mouth-gate, Nose-gate and Feel-gate, and they open only by the will of those inside.
Diabolus was once a servant of Shaddai. He wanted the rank the King had given to his Son, so he plotted treason and was cast down into pits and chains. Furious, the rebels find Mansoul and decide that ruining the King's delight will be their revenge.
Diabolus admits that force cannot win. So the plan is to win consent by deceit and flattery, and to shoot the town's only soldier, Captain Resistance. Strong walls protect only as long as the people behind them keep saying no.

How it ends (spoiler)
Emmanuel comes back after the doubters take the town through Feel-gate, and he defeats them in the field. A second army of blood-men is captured alive, and the remaining Diabolonian doubters are tried and executed. Emmanuel then gathers Mansoul and tells them that one day he will carry the town to his Father's kingdom, where no enemy can come. Until then he charges them to keep their robes clean, to watch against sin, to believe in his love, and to hold fast until he comes.
