Krytyka praktycznego rozumu in short
Kant's argument runs in one line. Reason can be practical by itself, because we are aware of a law that commands without any if. That law asks only that a maxim could hold for everyone, and it gives us our first knowledge of freedom.
What Krytyka praktycznego rozumu is about
What makes an act good? Is it the result, the feeling behind it, or something else entirely? Picture an honest man pressed by friends, relatives and a prince to slander Anne Boleyn. He refuses, and a ten year old listener rises from approval to deep reverence.
The Critique of Practical Reason is the work of Immanuel Kant, companion to his Critique of Pure Reason. The first book asked what we can know. This one asks what we must do, and how reason can guide the will without help from desire, reward or fear. You get the full path of his argument, from the moral law to freedom, the highest good, God and immortality.
Dla kogo. This book suits readers who like to ask what duty is, where freedom comes from and why honesty matters even when it costs everything. It rewards anyone who enjoys clear moral arguments and vivid examples.

Reason can guide the will by itself
Kant calls the book a critique of practical reason, not of pure practical reason. His aim is to show that pure reason really can be practical, meaning it can decide what we will without help from outside.
In his first critique, reason was warned against claiming too much. Here the worry is reversed. Reason tied to experience and desire is the one that overreaches, because it tries to rule the will on its own terms.
If pure reason shows itself practical, it proves its own reality through a fact. That fact also establishes freedom, the idea speculative reason could only think without contradiction. The ideas of God and immortality attach to freedom. They are not known as objects of science are known. They are assumed because the moral law requires them.
Practical reason can lead the will by itself, and everything else in the book follows from that claim.

Pytania o Krytyka praktycznego rozumu
What is The Critique of Practical Reason about?
It asks how reason can guide the will without help from desire or reward. Kant argues that the moral law is a fact of reason, that it reveals human freedom, and that it leads to hope for the highest good.
What is the categorical imperative in this book?
It is a command that binds without any if. Kant states it as acting so that your maxim could serve as a principle of universal legislation, meaning a rule that everyone could follow.
What is the difference between a maxim and a law?
A maxim is a personal rule of one person's will. A law is valid for the will of every rational being. Kant tests a maxim by asking whether it could hold universally without defeating itself.
How does this book relate to the Critique of Pure Reason?
It is the companion work. The first critique limited what reason can know, while this one shows how the moral law gives practical reality to freedom, and then to God and immortality, without claiming new theoretical knowledge.
What does Kant mean by the highest good?
The highest good is virtue joined with happiness in proportion to worth. Virtue is the supreme condition, and happiness follows as its fitting reward, which Kant says requires us to assume immortality and a moral author of the world.
