Tarzan i klejnoty Oparu in short

Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar is a chase through the African jungle in which every person wants something. Werper wants gold and safety. Achmet Zek wants ransom and revenge.

What Tarzan i klejnoty Oparu is about

What happens when the strongest man in the jungle cannot remember his own name? That is the problem at the center of Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar, an adventure by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Tarzan, known in England as Lord Greystoke, goes back to a lost city for more gold, and one blow to the head leaves him as wild as the apes who raised him.

A disgraced Belgian officer, a ruthless Arab slaver, a priestess of a lost sun cult and Tarzan's wife Jane all chase their own wishes through the same forest. You get the story, its people, and the ideas under the action.

Dla kogo. This book is for readers who love fast jungle adventure, daring rescues and fierce animal fights, with scheming villains and a lost city full of gold.

A disgraced officer flees into a slaver's arms

Lieutenant Albert Werper has been sent to a lonely post in the Congo instead of facing a court martial. Six months of isolation turn his shame into hatred, and he fixes it on his captain. One evening he shoots the captain dead just as the older man reaches out a calming hand.

Werper kills a sentry at the gate and runs into the forest. Exhausted, he is found by Achmet Zek, an Arab raider of ivory and slaves. Werper lies, claims he hates his own people, and offers his skills as a soldier. Zek hates the Belgian forces that have hunted him, so he listens.

For months Werper rides with the band. Then Zek shares his plan. He wants a ransom from Tarzan, or he will sell Tarzan's wife in the north. Fear for his own life wins over disgust, and Werper agrees.

Self-pity can grow into crime, and fear then keeps a weak man doing worse.
