Keely i jego odkrycia in short

The book is a defense of John Worrell Keely, written by the patron who paid for his work. It follows him from the discovery of a strange energy in 1872, through the trouble with his motor company, to the support of professors and the hopes for airships and costless power. Around that story it builds a theory in which sound, ether, gravity, mind and God all follow one law of sympathy.

What Keely i jego odkrycia is about

What if a tuning fork could split a few drops of water into a force strong enough to lift a heavy lever, fire a cannon and, one day, float an airship? That is the claim at the center of Keely and His Discoveries. John Worrell Keely, an inventor in Philadelphia, said he had found a hidden energy locked inside matter, and that sound held the key.

Mrs. Bloomfield H. Moore wrote the book in the early 1890s. She was a wealthy supporter who paid for Keely's work, and she wrote to defend him against lawsuits, newspaper mockery and scientific doubt. You will hear what witnesses said they saw, what his theory claimed, and what the critics answered.

Dla kogo. Readers who like the history of strange science, nineteenth century inventors, and the human drama of money, belief and doubt around a man who claimed to have found nature's hidden force.

A patron writes to defend her inventor

The book is above all an act of loyalty. Mrs. Moore believes Keely has found something real, and she fears the world is about to lose it. Lawsuits, newspaper attacks and angry investors threaten to end his work.

She tells her own part plainly. In the early 1880s she found Keely close to despair, with his honor under attack. She had set aside ten thousand dollars for a small public library in memory of her father. Convinced he had made a great discovery, she gave that money to keep his research alive.

She does not ask for belief. She asks for patience and fair testing, and reminds the listener that steam, the telegraph and railways were mocked first.

The book is a patron's plea for time, protection and a fair hearing.

Pytania o Keely i jego odkrycia

What is Keely and His Discoveries about?

It presents the inventor John Worrell Keely and his claim to have found an unknown force released by sound vibration. It gathers newspaper reports, testimony, letters and a philosophy of ether meant to explain his machines.

Who was John Keely and what was the Keely motor?

Keely was an inventor in Philadelphia who said that vibration could free energy stored in water and matter. The Keely motor was the engine he promised investors to use that force; demonstrations occurred, but reliable speed regulation and reversal remained unfinished.

Is Keely and His Discoveries a true story?

Keely and the events are real, and the book was written in the early 1890s by his patron. It is a defense of him, so it gives his side. Later investigators concluded his motor was a hoax.

What does sympathetic vibration mean in this book?

It means the way one vibrating body sets another into matching motion, like two tuning forks of the same pitch. Keely uses it to explain gravity, light, matter and even the working of the brain.

Is Keely and His Discoveries easy to follow?

The chapters are built from short newspaper pieces, letters, anecdotes and lively quotations, so you can enter almost anywhere. The story of the inventor, his company and his backers gives a clear thread.
