H. Beam Piper (1904-1964) was an American writer of science fiction, admired for his intelligent, well-constructed stories of future history, alien contact, and human ingenuity. Though not widely famous in his lifetime, he has become a cult favourite, and much of his work is now in the public domain.
Piper is best known for his 'Terro-Human Future History' — a detailed, interconnected sequence of stories and novels spanning thousands of years — and for the beloved novel Little Fuzzy, a warm, thoughtful tale about the discovery of a small alien species and the question of what it means to be a 'person.' Because many of his copyrights were not renewed, a large portion of his work is freely available.
