과장은 문자 그대로 받아들이도록 한 표현이 아닌, 명백한 과장입니다. 강조나 유머를 위해 감정이나 특성, 상황을 실제보다 훨씬 크게 표현합니다.
과장법이 쓰이는 두 가지 방식
Emotional exaggeration
An impossible claim shows how powerful a feeling seems to the person experiencing it.
After murdering Duncan in Macbeth, Macbeth imagines that the blood on his hands could turn an entire ocean red. The impossible scale makes his guilt feel overwhelming.

Comic exaggeration
An exaggerated description makes a person or situation seem ridiculous, often while revealing something true.
At the beginning of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge is described as so cold that no weather can warm or chill him. This exaggerated coldness makes his lack of kindness both striking and absurd.
