The Buddha on time
이 페이지는 도서관의 책 요약을 바탕으로 한 내용이에요. the Buddha의 글은 아니에요.
The Buddha treated time as a reason to practise with care rather than postpone inner work. He taught that people should loosen their attachment to what could not last and give close attention to how they lived. His emphasis was practical: an attentive life supported the path toward calm and freedom, while drifting left that work undone. Things arose and ceased through dependence on other things, so clinging to them could not provide lasting security.
Awareness gave life its direction
In the Dhammapada, he contrasted careful awareness with a life spent drifting. The chapter on heedfulness connected attention with the deathless and carelessness with death. This gave spiritual effort an urgency beyond simply keeping busy or filling the hours.
Training remained each person's responsibility
He taught that no person could purify another. Wise company could support the path, but it could not replace personal effort. Delay therefore mattered because the work of training the mind remained undone until the person undertook it.
Change mattered because craving hurt
His teaching linked craving with suffering, giving the passing of things a direct bearing on inner life. Loosening attachment was not merely accepting that things ended; it belonged to a broader effort to become free from craving and the pain it sustained.
