Quando si recita
In the Sunni tradition, Durood Ibrahim is recited in the final sitting of the daily prayers, after the tashahhud. Many Muslims also recite it outside formal prayer as an expression of love and respect for Prophet Muhammad. Sending blessings upon him is especially encouraged on Fridays.
Da dove proviene
Durood Ibrahim is transmitted in hadith reports, including those in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, as a prayer taught by Prophet Muhammad. It asks Allah to bless Muhammad and his family, recalling the blessings bestowed upon Ibrahim and his family. Durood Sharif is a broader term for prayers of blessing upon the Prophet, rather than the name of only this wording.
