In Chapter 27, Curdie wakes during the goblin invasion, frees the defeated men-at-arms, and helps drive the attackers out by stamping on their feet. He rescues Lootie from Harelip, but the princess remains missing, and her disordered room convinces him that the goblins have taken her.
