Who Macduff is
Macduff is a Scottish lord whose loyalty lies with King Duncan. His part in the story brings him to Macbeth's castle, where he has come to wake the king.
The porter opens the gate to him after a night of secrecy and fear. Macduff later grows suspicious of Macbeth's rule, placing him among those who do not trust the new king.
Macduff and the others in the story
Macduff's loyalty to Duncan connects him with Malcolm, the king's elder son and named heir. He goes to England to join Malcolm as the Scottish lords begin to whisper against Macbeth.
