Emma, Volume 3, Chapter 6 — streszczenie

Volume 3, Chapter 6 z 55 · chapter — czas czytania: 21 min

In Chapter 6, a delayed Box Hill outing leads to a gathering at Donwell Abbey, where Mr. Knightley hosts his neighbors and Jane Fairfax resists Mrs. Elton’s pressure to accept a position. Jane leaves in distress, while Frank Churchill arrives irritable, recovers over refreshments, and agrees to join the next day’s excursion.

Co się wydarza

  1. The Sucklings postpone their visit, and a lame carriage horse delays the combined Box Hill party.
  2. Mr. Knightley invites the neighbors to Donwell, refuses Mrs. Elton control of the arrangements, and carefully accommodates Mr. Woodhouse.
  3. The guests gather strawberries, and Mrs. Elton presses Jane Fairfax to accept a position despite her repeated refusals.
  4. Emma admires the estate and finds Mr. Knightley and Harriet talking comfortably near the view of Abbey Mill Farm.
  5. Jane privately asks Emma to explain her departure, refuses transport, and walks home seeking solitude.
  6. Frank arrives late and irritable, improves after eating, and finally agrees to stay for the Box Hill outing.

Na co zwrócić uwagę

Jane’s relief reveals the strain beneath her restrained behavior. Her appeal also draws a sympathetic response from Emma.

Krótki sprawdzian
