Co się wydarza

1. Sailing toward Bordeaux, Candide draws hope from Cunegonde and his remaining wealth, while Martin finds no grounds for hope.
2. Martin declares himself a Manichean and describes a world dominated by violence, oppression, and private misery.
3. The travelers watch a naval battle in which one ship sinks with a hundred men visible on deck.
4. Candide recovers one red sheep and learns that the sunken ship belongs to the Dutch pirate who robs him.
5. Candide sees deserved punishment, but Martin asks why the passengers must also die.
6. Their debate continues without progress for fifteen days, while the recovered sheep strengthens Candide’s hope of finding Cunegonde.
