In Chapter 11, Gustavus Vassa survives maritime dangers, joins Doctor Irving’s plantation venture, and leaves the Musquito Shore because its working life troubles his conscience. His journey back exposes him to violence, threatened enslavement, and unpaid wages without legal protection, before he reaches England and thanks God for his deliverance.
