플롯은 이야기 속 사건들이 서로 이어지는 흐름입니다. 인물이 마주하는 문제와 그들이 내리는 선택, 그 결과로 벌어지는 일까지 포함하죠. 무엇이 일어나는지뿐 아니라 각 사건이 어떻게 연결되는지도 다룹니다.

Actions and consequences
Events form a plot when one action creates the conditions for another. A choice can bring trouble, reveal information, or change a character's goal.
In Macbeth, Macbeth murders Duncan to gain the crown, then orders further killings to protect his position. Those choices deepen the opposition that eventually brings him down.

Turning points
A turning point changes the direction of the plot. Characters may learn something that forces them to rethink their beliefs or actions.
In Pride and Prejudice, Darcy's letter makes Elizabeth reconsider her judgments of both Darcy and Wickham. This discovery changes the course of her relationship with Darcy.

Order of events
A plot can follow events in time order or reveal earlier events later. The order affects what readers know and what they expect.
In Wuthering Heights, Lockwood encounters the troubled household before Nelly tells him about Catherine and Heathcliff's past. Earlier events then help explain the hostility he has witnessed.
