Who Sir Galahad is
Sir Galahad belongs to Arthur's fellowship, but his place there carries a special promise. He sits in the Siege Perilous, the seat reserved for the knight who will succeed in finding the Holy Grail.
His arrival belongs to a quest that tests more than courage or skill with a sword. Malory presents him as pure in a way that distinguishes him from the other knights.
Sir Galahad and the others in the story
Galahad is the son of Sir Launcelot du Lake, Arthur's admired and trusted knight. Their connection brings together earthly achievement and the spiritual demands of the Grail quest. Launcelot must face his own failings, while Galahad's purity marks him out among the seekers.
What Sir Galahad wants
Galahad joins the search for the Holy Grail alongside knights such as Sir Perceval and Sir Bors. The quest begins after the holy vessel appears at the Round Table and then vanishes. Here, confession, repentance and the setting aside of pride matter more than a knight's strength.
