꽃의 우화 in short

Flower Fables is a set of fairy tales and narrative songs, shared by Elves at a moonlit feast. Each shows a small, weak being facing a larger power: a fairy against a frost king, a spirit against flames, an exile among proud courts. The weapon is the same each time, patient kindness joined to hard work.

What 꽃의 우화 is about

What would it take to melt the heart of a king made of ice? In Flower Fables, the answer is a tiny fairy named Violet, who flies into his frozen palace with a wreath of flowers and a belief that kindness can reach anyone. Her story is the first of eight, each told by a different Elf at a moonlit feast.

Louisa May Alcott wrote these tales for Ellen Emerson. It was her first book, published in 1854, years before Little Women made her name. The stories take you through ice halls, coral palaces, a beehive and a fiery home beyond the sun, and each one holds a lesson told in bright, clear pictures.

이런 분께 적합해요. Readers who love fairy tales, gardens and talking animals will enjoy this book. It also suits parents seeking gentle bedtime stories and readers curious about the early writing of the author of Little Women.

A Tiny Fairy Faces the Frost King

The book opens on a summer night, far from human eyes. Fairies dance in the moonlight, and the Queen sits beneath a wild rose beside a mushroom table. To pass the hours until the moon goes down, she asks each Elf to share a tale.

The first story is called The Frost King, or the Power of Love. The Queen has tried everything to protect the flowers from the Frost King, whose dark spirits blight them each year. Costly gifts and messengers have gone to his court and come back sick for want of sunlight.

That evening the Elves argue in council. Some call for richer presents and some for war. Then Violet, the weakest of them all, kneels before the throne. She points out that nobody has gone to the king with real trust. She will carry only a wreath of the loveliest flowers, and she will stay until sunlight falls on flowers in his own gardens.

The king refuses her request, and his spirits lock her in a dark cell. Even there she does not give up. She frees flies from spider webs, and the spiders spin a mantle shot with golden thread for the king. Moles dig a path to the dead flower roots. Wherever she goes, a golden light follows her and green things stir.

Patient kindness, offered again and again, does what gifts and force cannot.

꽃의 우화에 관한 질문

What is Flower Fables about?

It is a set of fairy tales told by Elves at a moonlit feast. In each, a small fairy, child or spirit faces a trial and learns that kindness, patience and humility are stronger than pride or force.

Who wrote Flower Fables and who was it written for?

Louisa May Alcott wrote it, and it is dedicated to Ellen Emerson, whom she calls her friend. The book opens with lines from a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson about colors and wild bees.

How many stories are in Flower Fables?

The book holds six prose tales, from The Frost King to Ripple, the Water-Spirit, and two narrative songs, The Flower's Lesson and Clover-Blossom. A short fairy feast frames them all and ends with a farewell song.

Is Flower Fables good to read aloud to children?

Yes, in a sense that suits it well: each tale is a self-contained story with bright pictures, friendly animals and flowers, short songs and a clear moral, so it reads well one tale at a time.

What is the main message of Flower Fables?

Gentleness and service win more than power. The tales show that pride and selfishness cause harm, that real change takes patient work, and that quiet kindness, even from the smallest creature, can change a whole world.
