Sažetak djela Mary, Chapter 12

Chapter 12 od 31 · 2 min za čitanje poglavlja

In Chapter 12, wet weather keeps the group indoors, and Mary grows closer to Henry through thoughtful conversations while Ann receives only temporary relief from a physician’s prescription. Henry’s knowledge, sensitivity, and religious views enlarge Mary’s understanding, while his attentions to everyone keep their companionship from attracting notice.

Što se događa

  1. A physician’s prescription briefly eases Ann’s condition, but prolonged wet weather confines the group indoors.
  2. Ann tires of the ladies’ conversation, and cards and music relieve the dull evenings.
  3. Mary notices Henry’s melancholy and finds his conversation more rewarding than anyone else’s.
  4. Mary and Henry discuss serious subjects without attracting attention, since he treats everyone attentively.
  5. Henry’s understanding of people and attention to Nature develop Mary’s knowledge and taste.
  6. The ceremonies they witness prompt Henry to explain his religious beliefs and their influence on his character.
