Sažetak djela Homer (Chapter 10)

Chapter 10 od 26 · 13 min čitanja: chapter

In Chapter 10, Achilles kills Hector, abuses his body, and honors Patroclus with funeral rites and games while refusing mercy to his enemy. Divine intervention and Priam's personal appeal finally soften his rage, and he returns Hector's body and grants Troy time to mourn and bury its defender.

Što se događa

  1. Hector waits outside Troy, flees Achilles, and finally stands to fight after Minerva falsely appears as his brother.
  2. Achilles kills Hector, rejects his plea for burial, and drags his corpse away while his family watches in anguish.
  3. Patroclus' ghost requests burial and shared remains; Achilles conducts sacrifices, a funeral, and competitive games in his honor.
  4. Achilles repeatedly drags Hector's body around Patroclus' mound, but Venus and Apollo protect it from decay.
  5. Following divine instructions, Priam enters Achilles' tent with ransom and appeals to his feelings for his own father.
  6. Achilles returns the body and grants a twelve-day truce; Troy mourns Hector, and Helen recalls his unfailing kindness.
