Sažetak djela Far from the Madding Crowd (Chapter 25)

Chapter 25 od 57 · 5 min čitanja: chapter

In Chapter 25, the narrator describes Sergeant Troy as charming, impulsive, and skilled at deceiving women, with little concern for consequences beyond the present. He then appears among Bathsheba’s haymakers as a volunteer, and his approach makes her blush with embarrassment mixed with anger.

Što se događa

  1. The narrator describes Troy’s concentration on the present and his lack of concern for the future.
  2. Troy’s fluent speech and good intentions contrast with his wasteful energy, impulsive conduct, and dishonesty toward women.
  3. The narrator identifies Troy as a man who deliberately uses excessive flattery to gain power over women.
  4. With Boldwood away, Bathsheba approaches her hayfields in unusually light spirits and watches the workers.
  5. Troy volunteers at loading hay, then leaves his pitchfork and approaches Bathsheba, who blushes and keeps walking straight ahead.
