Sažetak djela Dhammapada (Chapter 12)

Chapter 12 od 26 · 2 min čitanja: chapter

In Chapter 12, the verses urge each person to guard and discipline themselves before teaching others, because harmful actions bring suffering upon their doer. They place responsibility for purity and wrongdoing on the individual and insist that helping another must not mean neglecting one's own duty.

Što se događa

  1. A person who values themselves should remain watchful, including during part of the night.
  2. Each person should practice right conduct and self-discipline before teaching or disciplining others.
  3. The verses describe self-mastery as rare and show wrongdoing destroying the person who commits it.
  4. Good conduct is difficult, while harmful deeds and rejection of worthy teaching lead toward personal ruin.
  5. Each person bears responsibility for their own purity and must attend to their own duty.
