Chapter 6 av 34 · 11 min att läsa kapitlet

In Chapter 6, Hindley returns with a wife, reduces Heathcliff to farm labor, and neglects Catherine, who shares Heathcliff’s escapes onto the moors. When a dog bites Catherine during their visit to Thrushcross Grange, the Lintons welcome her but reject Heathcliff, and Hindley threatens to dismiss him if he speaks to her.

Handling

  2. Encouraged by his wife’s dislike, Hindley ends Heathcliff’s lessons and makes him work with the servants.
  3. Catherine shares her lessons with Heathcliff, and they escape together onto the moors despite repeated punishments.
  4. They spy on the Linton children at Thrushcross Grange, laugh at their quarrel, and flee when discovered.
  5. Skulker bites Catherine’s ankle; the Lintons care for her but send Heathcliff away.
  6. After Mr. Linton rebukes Hindley, Hindley forbids Heathcliff to speak to Catherine under threat of dismissal.
