Vad händer

1. Lydgate reports no physical change in Mr. Casaubon, and Dorothea wonders whether she causes her husband’s new anxiety.
2. Lydgate explains that hostility toward Mr. Bulstrode and his own appointment discourages cooperation and donations to the New Hospital.
3. Dorothea welcomes his account of useful medical work and offers two hundred a year.
4. At home that evening, she gains Mr. Casaubon’s agreement to the contribution despite his brief reservation about its size.
5. Mr. Casaubon suspects she seeks information about his conversation with Lydgate, and his distrust blocks openness between them.
