Who we are

Library of Alexandria Press LLC is an independent publisher in Houston, Texas, founded in November 2025 by Tim Zengerink. We publish as the Library of Alexandria, at libraryofalexandria.com.

We are not the ancient library and not the library in Egypt (Bibliotheca Alexandrina). We took the name as a promise: every great book, complete, in every language and every format, for everyone.

What we publish

Complete editions of the great books: 200,000+ classics, from novels, plays and poetry to philosophy, history and the great religious texts. Every book is there to read and to hear, with a 15-minute summary, and any book can be printed at the cost of printing as a paperback, hardcover or large print. The library is built for 25 languages.

How we choose texts

Each edition starts from the original or the first printed edition of the work. We publish the whole work: an edition leaves out no chapter, scene or passage of it.

Where our catalogue knows it, the book's page names the year the work was first published, and the citation of our edition says which edition you hold, ready to copy in MLA, APA and Chicago.

How we check them

  • Complete and in order: before an edition opens, the finished file is checked against the original, chapter by chapter, and its contents, headings and layout are checked in the file a reader gets.
  • Straight through: no note numbers and no footnote blocks interrupt the text.
  • Measured, not guessed: length, reading time and reading grade are measured on the text of our own edition: reading time at 238 words a minute, reading grade by the Flesch-Kincaid formula. The method and the numbers are open: Reading time and level of the classics.

Corrections

Tell us about an error and we fix it. Write to support@libraryofalexandria.com with the book, the chapter and the passage. We read every report, correct the edition when the error is ours, and write back to tell you what we changed.

Accessibility

Every book is there to read and to hear, and any book can be printed in large print at the cost of printing. We build our pages to work on a phone, with a keyboard and with a screen reader. If something on our site is hard to use for you, write to support@libraryofalexandria.com and we fix it.
