Twee op het spoor in short
Two on the Trail follows a reporter and a young woman who meet in a restaurant booth and travel north on a mission she cannot explain. She must find a husband she married in a moment of foolishness, and he must see her safely there. A ruthless trader tries to stop them at every turn.
What Twee op het spoor is about
What happens when a stranger shares your restaurant booth, and a talkative woman decides you are newlyweds? In Two on the Trail, a quiet New York reporter named Garth Pevensey lunches in Prince George, British Columbia, across from a lively girl in a brown suit.
Hulbert Footner wrote this adventure romance in the early twentieth century. By evening the girl asks Garth for a favour that will take them hundreds of miles into the wild Canadian Northwest. You ride a mail stage, a river steamer, a York boat and pack ponies, and you meet the people who help and hinder.
Voor wie is het?. Readers who love frontier adventure and journeys along rivers and trails will enjoy this novel. It also suits those drawn to brave heroines, loyal young friends, clever escapes and a romance that develops over time.

A shared booth starts a strange friendship
In Papps's Restaurant, Garth Pevensey is shown into a narrow booth that already holds a farmer and his wife. A slender, pretty girl is then shown into the last seat across from him.
A flustered woman named Mrs. Pink arrives, looking for a lost husband. She takes Garth and the girl for a young married couple and gives them advice. Garth does not correct her. When she asks whether they met long ago, the girl answers briskly that it was half an hour ago, and leaves.
That evening an old lady named Mrs. Mabyn asks Garth to call at the Bristol Hotel. There he finds the same girl, now introduced as Natalie Bland. She must reach Spirit River Crossing and will not say why. Garth agrees to see her as far as Miwasa Landing.
A moment of shared laughter can carry two strangers into a promise neither saw coming.
