Who Pinocchio is

Pinocchio begins as a piece of wood that behaves like a living creature before Geppetto carves it. Restless and outspoken, he is ready to run away almost as soon as he has feet. His wooden body makes him extraordinary, but his wish to avoid effort gives his troubles a familiar shape.

What Pinocchio wants

Pinocchio wants enjoyment without effort, and tempting sights repeatedly push his good intentions aside. He means to attend school, yet a puppet theater draws him away. The Fox and the Cat exploit his hope of becoming rich without work.

Pinocchio and the others in the story

Geppetto makes sacrifices for Pinocchio and treats him as a son. Pinocchio can recognize kindness and feel remorse, but his mistakes also hurt those who help him. The Fairy with Blue Hair offers affection and guidance, while the Talking Cricket warns him about idleness and disobedience.

Vragen

Why does Pinocchio's nose grow?

His nose grows when he tells certain lies, making his dishonesty visible to the Fairy with Blue Hair. It also behaves strangely earlier in the story.

Who makes Pinocchio?

Geppetto, a poor craftsman, carves Pinocchio from a piece of living wood and cares for him as his son.

Is Pinocchio bad?

Pinocchio is impulsive and often selfish, but he also feels genuine remorse and recognizes kindness. His adventures test whether those feelings can become responsible actions.
