Wat er gebeurt

1. Pip explains his name and the childish ideas he forms about his dead parents and brothers from their gravestones.
2. A shivering man wearing a leg shackle seizes Pip in the churchyard, searches his pockets, and eats his bread.
3. When Pip names his sister’s blacksmith husband, the man studies his shackled leg and demands a file and food.
4. The man threatens Pip with death and a hidden young companion, making him promise an early morning delivery at the Battery.
5. Pip watches the man limp toward the river, imagines him as a returning pirate, and runs home in fear.
